Dear friends,
With the fall season in full swing, I’d like to update you on a number of exciting current projects and developments.
Album releases
My latest album, “Rachmaninoff, Refracted”, was released last month on the Steinway & Sons label. The launch was marked by a global Spiriocast of the program, and you can find the album on all major platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music and IDAGIO. You can also stop by your nearest Steinway Hall and have a Spirio play back some of the program for you!
Make sure to also check out the sheet music to one of the works on the album, my arrangement of the Adagio from Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2, described thus in a recent review:
“What Mr. Namoradze achieved in his rendition of the famous Adagio, probably one of most famous themes in Rachmaninov orchestral output, was creating an authentic, idiomatic, and natural sounding score that seemed created for the piano by composer himself. In his version, our transcriber permitted—at least some of us!—to forget the origins of the material and created a large canvas poem for the piano in an authentic style and idiom… It is a demanding but extremely rewarding arrangement.” — Roman Markowicz, ConcertoNet
In further album news, my disc on the Hyperion label of piano music by York Bowen, released in 2021, has now landed on all streaming platforms, so make sure to check that out too!
Film score
One of the most unique projects I’ve gotten to do recently is composing and producing the music for the mesmerizing film Le chant des étoiles (“The Song of Stars”), which follows the process of creation of a series of astonishing paintings by Fabienne Verdier. Following its screening at an exhibition by the same name at the Musée Unterlinden in Colmar, France, the full film is now available to view online.
Upcoming performances
My performance schedule this fall revolves around a number of key residencies and concert series. Among these is a set of recitals at the Konzerthaus Dortmund, and later this month I shall be in Antwerp as the Antwerp Symphony’s inaugural “Focus Artist”: besides performances with the orchestra and Maestro Hans Graf of Liszt’s Totentanz and Scriabin’s rarely-heard Prometheus (with its spectacular orchestration including an organ, choir and light display in the hall) I shall also be giving a recital and presentation. For all of my upcoming performances, please make sure to keep an eye on the schedule on my website as well as my social media, and I hope to see you during my travels!
Kind regards,
Nicolas
