What a thrilling few months it has been! Following my win at Honens in September I’ve given performances across Canada and a number of important recitals in the US, including my sold-out Carnegie debut at Zankel Hall last month. I’m very fortunate that the three reviews I received were all glowing:

“[Namoradze] is a pianist who proved that, once in a while, the distinguished members of the jury make a good choice and select a winner who plays like a true artist; who impresses not with pyrotechnics but rather with keen intelligence, a rich tonal palette and refinement… It was a most auspicious debut by an artist representing that rare breed, a thinking virtuoso. There are young pianists whom I like or admire very much for their strictly pianistic accomplishments. Nicolas Namoradze deserves not only admiration but a deeply felt respect.”— Roman Markowicz, ConcertoNet

“Namoradze explores the shadows, deep and dark, in impressive New York debut… The moments that linger long in the memory are the pianissimos. Long stretches of pianissimo, layered, multicolored, deep in thought or swirling like a spring breeze. Pianissimos dense with possibility, and pianissimos that just are.”—David Wright, New York Classical Review

“[Namoradze] is a deep investigator of musical resonances over the centuries… Namoradze has fully grasped the intellectual heft of these pieces.”—Jon Sobel, Blogcritics

I also have some exciting news regarding my various recording projects! First of all, a disc of select live performances from the 2018 Honens International Piano Competition will be released on the Honens label on April 5 (if you’d like to purchase a hard copy pre-sale, please contact Amanda Smith). Secondly, I recently finished a recording session in New York for a disc of Schumann and my own music on the Steinway label which is set to be released in September. Finally, I’m very much looking forward to recording a CD of the wonderful (and highly underrated!) English composer York Bowen for the Hyperion label in July.

In the next couple of months I shall be giving recitals in the US, Japan, Germany, Georgia, and Canada—please see below for details. I hope to see you during my travels!

Kind regards,

Nicolas
